Become a Contestant
The 2009 Miss Hendersonville and
Hendersonville's Outstanding Teen Pageants
will be held February 6 & 7, 2009
at Flat Rock Playhouse,
the official state theatre
of North Carolina.
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
Miss Hendersonville - between the ages of 17-24 & at least in 12th grade; live, work or go to school in Henderson County for at least 6 months prior to pageant date; single & never been married or pregnant. No Entry Fee. All contestants are asked to raise $100 for Children's Miracle Network.
Hendersonville's Outstanding Teen - between the ages of 13-17 & at least in 8th grade & no older than 11th grade; live & attend school in Henderson County for at least 6 months prior to pageant date; single & never been married or pregnant. $150 Entry Fee. All contestants are asked to raise $100 for Children's Miracle Network.
CONTESTANT MEETING:
A meeting will be held for anyone interested in being a contestant in the 2009 pageants on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 3-5pm in the auditorium of the Henderson County Public Library. All required paperwork will be distributed at this time and all deadlines will be announced.
Attendance is mandatory by either the contestant
or a parent! No exceptions!
Community Service Platform:
Each contestant in the Miss America Organization is required to adopt a “platform” or community service project to volunteer for during their year of service. She should select something she can become involved in & can be passionate about. In addition, all contestants are required to volunteer for Miss America’s national platform, Children’s Miracle Network. The Miss Hendersonville Organization works closely with many local non-profits, including Bares It ALL For Breast Cancer, the Salvation Army, Showing Our Hearts For Kids and the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce,
just to name a few.

Awards:
Miss Hendersonville 2009 will receive a $2,000 college scholarship (including $1,000 from the Rotary Club of Hendersonville). Runners-up will win $1,000 and $500, and each non-finalist will earn a $100 scholarship. Additional awards will be presented for swimsuit, talent, congeniality, scholastics, community service and photogenic.
Hendersonville’s Outstanding Teen 2009 will earn a $500 college scholarship to Blue Ridge Community College (awarded by the Rotary Club of Hendersonville Four Seasons).
Great prize packages are also provided to each winner, including free hair and nail care, tanning packages, wardrobe allowances, autograph cards, photography sessions, jewelry, and much more!
